WALKING WITH THE WOUNDED
Every day, young men and women in our armed forces are risking their lives in extreme circumstances, facing danger with great professionalism and courage. The Horlicks team is proud to support Walking with the Wounded.
During the course of operations many have suffered terrible injuries. When these wounded soldiers return home, they face a very different future filled with challenges they probably never imagined.
RAISING SUPPORT FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS
We’re supporting Walking with the Wounded with the aim of raising awareness and funds for four key charities; Help for Heroes, The Warrior Programme, British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association (BLESMA) and SkillForce. These charities help and assist wounded soldiers when they return from conflict and help them to build a successful future.
WALK TO THE NORTH POLE
In April 2010 Horlicks was proud to support a Walk to the North Pole with a team that included four wounded soldiers, two of which were amputees – who became the first amputees to reach the North Pole unaided. Supported by a team including HRH Prince Harry, the soldiers reached the pole in 13 days after braving temperatures of -40°C and pulling 100KG pulks over ice fissures for a total of 200 miles.
Horlicks provided the team with a specially-formulated expedition blend that was packed full of vitamins, minerals and over 200kcal per mug, which helped to sustain the soldiers as they walked. We also hid messages from the soldiers’ loved ones in each sachet, giving them vital encouragement during the tough days and nights on the ice.
EVEREST
We’re proud to announce that we will be supporting the soldiers’ next expedition to the summit of Everest. We are currently working closely with the team to develop specifically formulated nutritious drinks and snacks to help them to reach their goal. Watch this space for further announcements or, if you’d like to find out how you can help with this daring expedition, please get in touch with Walking with the Wounded.
